If children are at an appropriate age where they could sit at one table, consider having a "kid's table" which is more thematic to their interests. A paper tablecloth and buckets full of crayons should keep them busy and produce some kodak worthy artwork. Board games (with not too many pieces) could also be kept on the table instead of flowers or candles.
It may also be a good idea to have "kid friendly" foods available on your menu. These little accents will only help ensure that everyone kids and parents included are having a great time on your special day.
